Four main factors need to be remembered:

Gauge size refers to the thickness of the piercing. 

Barbell lengths refers to the wearable barbell length of studs.  

Diameter is used to measure hoops. 

GAUGE SIZING  

Gauge sizing is basically how thick the bar is. The thicker the barbell, the lower the size of the gauge. For example, a 14 gauge (14G) barbell is thicker than a 16 gauge (16G) barbell. The standard gauge size for most ear piercings is 16G.

MEASURING BARBELL LENGTH 

Length specifically refers to the wearable barbell portion that goes through your piercing. It does not include the jewels, charms, or balls. You only need to measure from the top to the bottom of the straight barbell, as per the guide below.

MEASURING CRYSTAL SIZE

When measuring the crystal size of ear piercing jewelry, accuracy is key for the perfect fit. Begin by utilizing a millimeter ruler to measure the diameter of the crystal. For studs or barbells determine the crystal's width.  Ensure precision by measuring across the widest part of the crystal. Remember to account for any settings or embellishments around the crystal that might affect the size. Accurate measurements ensure that the jewelry fits comfortably and accentuates your ear piercing beautifully.

SIZING BASED ON PIERCING TYPE 

Cartilage / Helix / Flat Piercings  

Perforation of the auricle is highly favored by today's women. The charm of cartilage ear piercings lies in the fact that they offer a vast space for imagination and creativity. The typical sizes of perforations in the ear cartilage and helix are 16G, 18G or 20G. Most of our accessories are 16G, 18G and 20G, which are the most common ear hole sizes. If you are not sure, please consult your perforator to confirm your size.

The column length of stud earrings is usually 6 to 8 millimeters. To prevent earrings from protruding too far, it is usually recommended to choose a smaller size. Depending on the thickness of your ear bones, some customers prefer 6-millimeter stud earrings to avoid getting pricked. Your safety and satisfaction are our top priorities. Tragus Piercings 

Tragus Piercings is a bold style that is completely different from ordinary earlobe earrings. It is located in a unique position on the outer edge of the earlobe and can be perfectly matched with either simple ring earrings or super sparkling gemstone stud earrings. The usual specification size is 16G and the column length is 6mm. We usually recommend a ring diameter of 8 millimeters, but if you are not sure of the exact size, please consult your perforator.

Conch Piercings

Conch Piercings is a method of ear perforation. The puncture site is in the cochlea (Conch) area of the ear, that is, the depression in the center of the auricle (the cartilaginous part of the outer ear). According to the specific location, it can be divided into two main types:

1. Inner Conch Piercing

Location: The larger depressed cartilage area in the center of the auricle (close to the opening of the ear canal).

Features: Usually, hoops or labret studs are worn.

2. Outer Conch Piercing

Location: The flat cartilage area on the outer side of the auricle near the opposite helix.

Features:Short bars or rings are often chosen, and later they can be upgraded to ear cuff and other decorations.

For hoops and studs, the usual gauge size is 16G with a post length of 6mm. We generally recommend a diameter of 8mm for hoops, but, as always, check with your piercer if you are unsure of the exact measurements. 

Snug Piercings

Snug puncture is a cartilage perforation that passes through the Antihelix area of the ear, located in the arc-shaped area between the middle of the auricle, the Helix and the Tragus. Its name "Snug" comes from the English word "comfortable and fitting".

Usually, wearing a curved barbell or a small hoop, the accessory will fit the natural curve of the ear.In most cases, snug piercings use a 16G barbell with a post length of 8mm. Our wide variety of barbell choices will allow you to find the perfect match for the cute, soft look you desire. 

Industrial piercing is a kind of perforation that runs through two different parts of the ear, usually connected by a straight metal long bar (industrial bar), forming a tough and avant-garde style. It is one of the most distinctive perforations of the ear bone.

Industrial punctures typically consist of two perforations and a straight bar. The most common combination is:

(1)Classic Industrial perforation

Location: One perforation is at the upper part of the Helix, and the other is at the Antihelix or the Forward Helix.

Features: Straight connection, strong visual impact.

(2)Vertical Industrial perforation

Location: Vertical perforations up and down (such as the upper part of the helix + the lower part of the cochlea).

Characteristics: More unique, but rarer.

(3)Custom Industrial perforation

The position of the perforation and the direction of the bar (such as diagonal bar, curved bar) can be adjusted depending on the shape of the ear.

The typical barbell size is 14G, whereas the post length is dependant upon where the piercer placed holes. It is important to measure your current jewelry for an accurate post length so we can offer you the properly sized barbell.
